Infrared Transparent Materials

A usual fallacy in the domain of thermography is that the visibility or clarity of certain objects would be similar or the same from visible light to infrared light. This is of course an imprecise inference as we are aware of the fact that those objects that are crystalline in visible light are actually nontransparent in the infrared spectrum. The following is the inventory of usually applicable objects for lenses and windows and their properties related to infrared transparency.

NIR - Near Infrared

The near infrared spectral range covers 0.9 microns to 1.7 microns and it has proven its effectiveness in the domain of research, security, surveillance, military and other industrial applications. Having diverse applications for different industry verticals, the near infrared has become sought after across the globe.

SWIR - Short Wave Infrared

The short wave spectral range is featured with manifold applications in the field of research with a spectral range that covers 2 microns to 6 microns. At present, ITI does not produce any short wave infrared cameras, but we hold the expertise in generating a short wave camera for you to suit your requirements.

MWIR - Mid Wave Infrared

The mid wave spectral range covers 3 microns to 5 microns of the infrared spectral range.

LWIR - Long Wave InfraredNo doubt, the long wave spectral range is the sought after infrared camera available in the market. Long wave infrared covers 7 or 8 microns to 14 microns, the highest of all camera coverage of the spectral ranges. At the same time almost all materials found in the Universe release radiation in this spectral range, thereby making it a sophisticated camera of varied range of applications and general use.
